Frequently Asked Questions

Are our breeding parents DNA tested?

Yes our parents are DNA tested by Orivet. We won’t breed litters without first DNA testing our parents. Our puppies won’t be affected by testable genetic illnesses as tested by Orivet. We don’t provide a copy of the report, but families are welcome to view the reports when they pick a puppy.

Do you transport puppies interstate?

We will transport puppies interstate and to Singapore.

Can we visit the puppy?

Yes, we’d love you to! You may visit to pick a puppy from the litter, then at 4 and 6 weeks. Pick up of puppy is at 8 weeks. We update weekly by video chats, messenger or facetime and we are constantly uploading the progress of our pups on our Facebook page. Before you visit the puppy you will be requested to sign and acknowledge a Conditions of Visit and provide identification. This is to protect our litter and our family home from ill intentioned people. You may also see the parents of our litter.

Are your puppies toilet trained?

We start toilet training our puppies from 3.5 weeks old. They are trained on artificial grass. The family will need to continue this training as puppies differ from each other. Some puppies are easier to toilet train than others, so consistency rests with the family to have a successfully toilet trained puppy.

Are your puppies crate trained?

We start crate training our puppies from 6 weeks old. The litter sleeps in a crate with a blanket over the crate to block out the light and encourage them to sleep all night. Crate training fast tracks toilet training and helps them settle into their new home if the crate training continues in the family home.

What other training do you do with your pups?

We start Early Neurological Stimulation with our pups from 3-16 days. These series of actions that we put our pups through is to develop and create neurological pathways to help them cope with stress and resist disease for later in their life.

We also put our pups through early grooming, such as bathing and clipping to get the familiar with the sounds and feel of the grooming salon.

We teach them about bite pressure, do basic commands such as sit. We also put our litters through the Puppy Culture program which helps them be more emotionally resilient and well adjusted for their new homes. We will post up our videos in our Facebook page so that families can be updated on their puppy’s progress.

What if we need to rehome our puppy?

We understand that family circumstances change and sometimes a puppy has to be rehomed. We offer assistance with finding another suitable home for the puppy. We recommend you ensure that you are in a position to adopt a puppy and that it is a lifelong commitment.

Do you offer a health guarantee?

Families have 72 hours to take their puppies to the vet to get a health check. If your puppy falls ill due to genetic illness between 8-12 weeks of age, we will refund the cost of the puppy when the puppy is returned to us and a vet letter is provided to state the cause of the genetic illness. We DNA test all our breeding parents and ensure they are in good breeding health. Our puppies are also vet checked, wormed and vaccinated before they go to their families. Just as a human can’t guarantee their own health in 6 months or even 12 months, in the same way we can’t guarantee a puppy’s a health. We trust families do the right thing by their puppy’s diet, environment and training to ensure they are in optimum health. We provide a four week FREE pet insurance with Vets Choice for all our families who adopt a puppy from Candy’s Cavoodles.

How much are your puppies?

We don’t quote a price until we have live puppies on the the floor. The market for cavoodles is constantly changing. It takes two months to raise a litter and the market would have changed by the time the puppies are ready to go home or ready to be advertised.

What is the deposit I need to make to get a puppy?

We require a $500 holding deposit for when the litter arrives, then a further $500 when you choose a puppy. Progress payment is made at 6 weeks and the final balance at 8 weeks.

Can I change my mind after paying a deposit?

You can change your mind after paying a deposit. The refund will be done within ten working days after we find a family to take over the puppy you have chosen. If you change your mind after 3 days, we will refund the deposit (less $120 for re-advertising costs) once a family has been found to take over the adoption of the puppy.

How old can I pick up my puppy?

We ensure our puppies have hit their milestones, toileting well, eating solids and fully weaned from mum. Puppies can leave our home at 8 weeks. Puppies going to Singapore have to be a minimum of 12 weeks of age.

What do you provide for puppy when they go home?

FAQs

How can I know who is a puppy scammer?

The seller only communicates by email. All forms of communication should be tried email, voice chat, live video chat. Email alone screams that is a scam. This is because scammers can do a spell and grammar check on Word document first.

Have weekly updates, live video, photos, voice chat.

Confirm vet details and talk to the vet directly, confirm ABN by Google and ABN look-up.

If possible visit pup and parents.

They offer a ‘shipping voucher’

They use words not common to the Australian style of language (de-wormed, potty trained)

If the price is too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. It’s a scam.

They ask for further payments to cover the freight or insurance, or a special temperature controlled crate. Do not send anymore money!

They make excuses to not be able to have a voice conversation or why you can’t see the pup.

Avoid financial heartache and do your due diligence.
